Meta to open a brick-and-mortar store
Meta's bringing the metaverse to the real-world in May, 2022 with their first-ever brick-and-mortar store in California.
On May 9th, Meta will open up a brick-and-mortar store on the Meta Burlingame campus in California.
The store will enable visitors to try out Meta's Portal videophones and Quest VR headsets along with demoing new Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses. More importantly to us, there will be space to test out Quest 2 demos including:
- Beat Saber
- GOLF+
- Real VR Fishing
- Supernatural
Visitors will then be able to get a 30-second clip showing them playing a game they've demoed.
This test in physical space will be pretty limited as the first storefront at 322 Airport Boulevard in Burlingame will just be in 1,550-square feet of space, open 11am-6pm Monday through Friday. However, this may just be a great user experience testing base for Meta to see people playing their hardware in a real-world setting (and getting paid for it, to boot).
